Consultation has concluded

Council has received a request for a temporary licence over part of Spit Reserve East (R1013329) adjacent Marine Rescue Middle Harbour for the purpose of a construction compound. The land is Crown land managed by Council as Council Crown Land Manager under the Crown Land Management Act 2016 and Local Government Act 1993.

Marine Rescue has obtained consent from TfNSW under sections 5.5 and 5.7 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 to redevelop the Middle Harbour premises wholly within TfNSW land and has requested Council’s consent for a temporary licence of the reserve surrounding the development site for the purpose of a construction compound during the construction period. The premises can only be accessed from land by traversing the reserve.

The requested area has been modified to ensure that the public retain reasonable access to the boat ramp located to the south of the premises. The construction period is expected to commence late August for up to 12 months. The proposed licence area is 272m2 as shown in the plans detailing the proposed construction site and compound. Any licence granted will be conditional including payment of a fee, restoration of the reserve, and public access and safety matters.

Notice is given under Section 47A of the Local Government Act 1993 of the proposal to grant a temporary licence to Marine Rescue NSW for 12 months to facilitate the redevelopment of this important community infrastructure.
